ASG Australia Explores Strategic Alliance with Lucksun Group
ASG Australia meets with Lucksun Group to explore a potential strategic alliance in semi-trailer supply for Australian transport operators.

ASG Australia recently held a business meeting with representatives from Shandong Lucksun Import and Export Co., Ltd — a Chinese manufacturer of semi-trailers and heavy transport equipment — opening early discussions around a potential strategic alliance that could expand the commercial transport solutions available to Australian operators.
The meeting marks an important step in ASG Australia's ongoing effort to broaden its product and service ecosystem. As Victoria's authorised Sitrak distributor, ASG has built a strong foundation in heavy commercial vehicles, and discussions with Lucksun represent a natural next step — exploring how a specialist trailer manufacturer could complement the trucks ASG already supplies to fleet operators, construction companies, and bulk haulage businesses across Victoria.
Who Is Lucksun Group?
Lucksun Group was established in 2009, covering an area of 730,000 square metres with more than 2,000 employees and an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles. The company operates China's first robotic welding production line for trailers, alongside electrophoretic (KTL) painting systems, automated axle production lines, whole-vehicle intelligent assembly lines, and an automated disc brake production line.
What distinguishes Lucksun from many trailer suppliers is its degree of vertical integration. The company independently manufactures key components including axles, suspensions, brakes, TABS/TEBS systems, hybrid power systems, steel rims, vehicle lights, and telematics hardware — giving it direct control over quality at every stage of production.
For eight consecutive years, the production and sales volume of its single factory has ranked among industry leaders. Over the past 16 years, the company has produced more than 200,000 semi-trailers, with products covering Russia, Africa, the Middle East, South America, the Asia-Pacific region, and more than 30 countries.
A Diverse Range Built for Heavy Industry
The Lucksun range reviewed during the meeting covers a broad spectrum of semi-trailer types, many of which align directly with the industries ASG's customers already operate in. Their catalogue includes:
- Hybrid side tipper semi-trailer
- Hybrid rear tipper semi-trailer
- Side dump semi-trailer
- Rear tipper semi-trailer
- Flatbed semi-trailer
- Low-bed semi-trailer
- Skeleton semi-trailer
- Fence semi-trailer
- Side wall semi-trailer
- Powder tanker semi-trailer
- Oil tanker semi-trailer
- Curtainsider semi-trailer
- Refrigerated semi-trailer
- Vehicle carrier semi-trailer
- Electric double-trailer side dump truck
Of particular relevance to ASG's existing customer base are the tipper and side dump configurations. In these applications, ASG provides the Sitrak cab chassis — the truck itself — while Lucksun would provide the trailer body, forming a complete working combination for civil construction, quarrying, and bulk earthmoving operations.
Manufacturing Standards and Digital Production
The catalogue documents Lucksun's digital manufacturing environment in detail. Their production floor includes robotic welding workstations, KTL electrophoretic coating lines, electrostatic powder coating, PBS overhead conveyor systems, a brake intelligent production line, a tire assembly line, ABB intelligent welding robots, an intelligent welding machine for side walls, an intelligent assembly production line, an axle intelligent production line, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) for parts handling.
The use of ABB industrial robots — a globally recognised brand in heavy manufacturing — and the breadth of automated systems across the production floor reflects a manufacturing investment that goes well beyond what most trailer suppliers operate.
Trailer Components Manufactured In-House
The catalogue also highlights Lucksun's in-house trailer parts production, which includes axles, ABS systems, relay valves, maintenance-free balance beams, custom wheel rims, SKF bearings, brake drums, brake dust shields, branded leaf springs, manual adjusters, vehicle lamps, and sealing rings.
This is relevant for ASG's existing parts and service operation. Customers already servicing their Sitrak trucks through ASG could potentially benefit from trailer component support under the same roof — simplifying the maintenance relationship for operators running combined truck-and-trailer fleets.
Why This Alliance Makes Sense for ASG Customers
ASG already supplies Sitrak prime movers and tippers to operators who, in many cases, also need trailers. A formalised relationship with Lucksun could change that dynamic. A combined solution — Sitrak cab chassis supplied by ASG paired with Lucksun semi-trailers — would give fleet buyers a more integrated procurement experience, with a single point of contact for both the truck and the trailer.
Next Steps
The discussions between ASG Australia and Lucksun Group are at an early stage. No formal agreement is in place. Both parties are currently evaluating the commercial and logistical considerations involved, including compliance with Australian Design Rules (ADRs) and relevant heavy vehicle standards.
ASG will share updates as they progress. In the meantime, customers with enquiries about the current Sitrak truck range — prime movers, tippers, agitators, and cargo trucks — are welcome to contact the ASG team directly.
